I took up art whilst at sea and then at degree level at Norwich School of Art [NUA] 1984 – 1989. Later at the University of Hertfordshire I qualified as an art therapist.
For me art explores questions of identity and our relationship to our surroundings. We inhabit a constructed environment but also connect with nature and this raises deep and complex questions about our own drives and nature. I query what is happening to the world in which we live and how this impacts upon us.
The physicality of sculpture and working on the flat surface of the canvas brings me nearer to some realization, however temporal.
