About Me

I took up drawing and painting at sea as a stimulus before applying to art school in the 1980s. At Norwich School of Art and Design (Norwich University of the Arts) I studied sculpture, primarily figurative, and explored a range of media, including video and screen printing. I also maintained practice in the traditional sculptural methods of casting, carving and constructing. Post art school, for a period, my work became influenced by both political and abstract approaches. My work is primarily representational: using plein-air painting, the figure and the portrait as a primary subjects.
